Winter is finally over! As the weather starts to warm up, many people will be heading outside for some fresh air and sunshine. Your canine pal will also be happy to get out of the house. We’re happy to suggest a few things to put on your pup’s agenda! Read on as a local Bowmanville, ON vet lists some things to do with your dog this summer.
Go To A Park
Doggy parks can give your canine companion a great opportunity to run, play, and make new friends. Just use some common-sense precautions. Make sure Fido is microchipped, wearing ID tags, and current on all vaccines and flea/tick prevention. Also, before letting your pet off-leash, observe the pooches that are already there. If you notice any dogs that are acting aggressive and/or bullying other pups, take your furry buddy for a walk, and try again another day.
Explore
Has it been a while since you tried a new trail? Take Fido somewhere new, and spend a little time just exploring. Our furry friends absolutely love sniffing strange patches of grass!
Visit The Vet
While your four-legged buddy would probably rather visit the park than come see us, he will both look and feel better with proper veterinary care. Make sure that Fido is up to date with recommended wellness care before the weather gets warmer.
Try A Doggy Café
Want to get that furry tail wagging? Give your pooch a special treat! Try a dog-friendly café. Of course, Fido may be just as thrilled with a plain burger from a drive-thru! (Tip: this is a great option for something to do after your pup’s veterinary appointment.)
Grooming
Many of our canine buddies don’t get bathed as much during the winter. Dogs don’t like being soaking wet when it’s cold out any more than we do! Give your furry pal a good grooming session, so he can feel clean and fresh. Don’t forget to trim your pup’s nails!
Spring Cleaning
This one you may actually want to do while Fido is sleeping or outdoors. Go through your pet’s toys, clothes, food, and treats. Toss and replace anything that’s worn out, expired, or damaged, and give everything else a good cleaning.
Please reach out to us, your Bowmanville, ON pet hospital, for all of your dog’s veterinary care needs. We’re here to help!
