Hospital Administrator

Originally, Sharon had no intention of working with animals and wanted instead to pursue a career in law. In the 12th grade, she was accidentally directed to an animal hospital for her school’s career placement program. After a week of working with patients and their owners, Sharon’s mind was made up: veterinary medicine was her true calling! She hasn’t looked back since, and is now the Hospital Administrator here at Clarington Animal Hospital.

A native of Ajax, Ontario, Sharon began her veterinary career right out of high school when she signed on at a local animal clinic. She learned the profession from the ground up, taking on everything from front-desk work to surgical assistance and getting trained on-the-job in all areas of the veterinary hospital.

Sharon first met Dr. Bill Mingram several years ago at another animal clinic before she took leave to have her third child. When Dr. Mingram opened his own practice, he called Sharon and asked if she was available to come work alongside him again. Sharon gladly accepted, and has been at the Clarington Animal Hospital ever since. Her favourite parts of the job are the hospital’s wonderful clientele, her amazing staff, and the clinic’s adorable patients.

Sharon is married and has four children. The family shares their home with two loveable dogs: a black Lab, and a fluffy Bichon mix. When she isn’t spending time with her family or tending to the needs of the area’s pets here at the hospital, Sharon enjoys being outdoors. She’s particularly proud of climbing the stairs of Toronto’s CN Tower—all 1,776 of them!—during a charity event for the World Wildlife Foundation.

Daniela was raised in both Toronto, Canada, and Valparaiso, Chile. It was her years in Chile, constantly trying to help the many homeless dogs and cats wandering the streets, that made her come to a realization: she wanted to devote herself to caring for all of the animals she possibly could. Daniela hasn’t looked back since—she’s now a proud member of the Clarington Animal Hospital family!

Daniela was a senior in high school when she decided to complete her cooperative career placement at a local veterinary clinic. She learned something new every day and absolutely fell in love with the world of veterinary medicine—Daniela knew that she’d found the perfect path for her! She attended Sheridan College in Brampton to study animal care, then launched her veterinary journey by signing on as a Kennel Attendant at an animal hospital. Daniela worked her way up to Veterinary Assistant and reception positions, and she’s been caring for pets and animal owners in that capacity ever since.

Daniela moved to Courtice with her husband in 2017, and joined the Clarington Animal Hospital team in May of the following year. She makes it her mission every day to help each and every visitor to the clinic feel welcome and comfortable, and she’s found that she especially likes meeting exotic patients. Daniela’s favourite part of her job, though, is chatting one-on-one with pet owners just like herself on a daily basis.

Away from the office, Daniela likes spending time with her husband, Aaron, relaxing in the great outdoors, watching soccer, traveling, and doting on her own pets. She has a Bull Terrier named Dexter—currently living with Daniela’s parents thanks to his special bond with her father—and three cats: Primo, Donna, and Kiwi.

Kristi has adored the company of animals since she was a little girl, and often took care of her neighbours’ dogs while they were traveling. During her stint as an assistant manager at a local camera store after high school, Kristi had a startling realization—she could combine her love of animals with her customer service experience by working in veterinary medicine!

A native of Toronto’s east end, Kristi began her veterinary journey in 1994 when she was offered a part-time position as a receptionist and veterinary assistant at a local animal clinic. She became a full-time staff member after a few months, and was mentored extensively by one of the clinic’s veterinarians. Several years later, a friend of Kristi’s passed along her name to Dr. Mingram, who was looking for staff to add to his new hospital. Kristi has been with the Clarington Animal Hospital team since the day the practice opened for business!

Here at the clinic, Kristi enjoys spending time at the front desk getting to know clients and their beloved pets. She especially loves getting to watch pets grow up from babies to seniors. In addition to her duties here at the hospital, Kristi works as an instructor at a dog training facility in Ajax, where she’s able to help dog owners train their canine companions in everything from recall commands to fun tricks.

Along with her husband, Chris, and her two daughters, Carey and Erin, Kristi shares her home with a menagerie of pets. The family has two dogs, Ripley and Penny, as well as a pair of cats named Hazel and Primrose. Carl the goldfish and a gecko named Dakota round out the animal portion of the family.

When she has a spare moment between work and family life, Kristi enjoys camping, hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. She’s also fond of tossing the ball or Frisbee for her dogs, reading, cooking, and attending spin class at the gym.

When she isn’t at work, Joelle spends most of her time at the hockey arena watching her children’s games. Head Registered Veterinary Technician

Although she’d always had a passion for animals, science, and medicine, it wasn’t until her 12th grade career placement program that Bonnie knew the veterinary world was the ideal choice for her. She signed up for the program’s animal-hospital placement as soon as she could, and ended up securing a five-month placement in a local pet clinic. It didn’t take Bonnie long to realize that she was hooked!

Bonnie attended Seneca College’s veterinary technician program to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, and also completed a four-week placement at a busy referral clinic during her studies there. She also attended the University of Guelph, during which time she volunteered at the University’s seal house—there, she had the opportunity to care for both grey and harbour seals, and even helped a graduate student draw blood from the creatures! In addition, Bonnie spent time volunteering at the Ontario Veterinary College’s Wild Bird Clinic, where she learned about the proper handling and feeding of wild raptors.

Bonnie knew Dr. Bill Mingram from their time together at another veterinary clinic. When Dr. Mingram asked if she’d be interested in working with him again, Bonnie jumped at the chance! She’s been a member of the Clarington Animal Hospital team since day one, and particularly enjoys dental cleanings, exotic animal care, and working one-on-one with loving pet owners and their animal companions.

Aside from her interests in the veterinary world, Bonnie is an avid downhill skier and also enjoys reading and scrapbooking in her spare time.

During high school, Chris and his family got their first dog. Eddie, a loveable Jack Russell terrier, inspired Chris to learn more about animals and their care. His passion simply never wavered! Now, Chris gets to care for animals daily as a Registered Veterinary Technician with the Clarington Animal Hospital team.

A Scarborough native, Chris secured his first veterinary position at an animal clinic in Markham during his high-school career placement program. After taking on full-time responsibilities at the clinic as a senior in high school, Chris attended Ridgetown College’s veterinary technology program and graduated in 2011. He then continued working at the Markham clinic for a few months before heading to downtown Toronto, where he expanded his skills in emergency medicine at an overnight referral clinic there.

Chris and his family recently moved to Oshawa, and he joined the Clarington Animal Hospital family in the fall of 2015. As a Technician, he has special passions for anesthesia, nursing care, and dental work—he never ceases to be amazed at the improvement a good dental cleaning can bring!

In his time away from work, Chris enjoys comic books and gaming, and has even built his own personal computer. He also likes exercising at the gym and spending time with his own pets at home. He has two sibling cats, Brandy and Pepper, as well as an Akita/shepherd mix named Harley and a shepherd/Husky mix who goes by Rogue.
