Fall may not officially arrive for another week or so, but autumn is definitely in the air. Many people are already decorating their homes and yards for the season. If you have a pint-sized pet, such as a gerbil, Guinea pig, or hamster, you can get them in on the fun as well. Wallpaper Backing
You can get a fun, autumn-themed wallpaper or wrapping paper. Tape it to the back wall of the cage, on the outside. Make sure your pet can’t reach it!

There’s certainly no shortage of pumpkin-shaped items. Look for smaller pieces, like wax burners or coffee cups. Don’t use plastic, though: your pet may chew through it and ingest it, which would be quite dangerous.
Paper Ghosts
Plain paper is safe for pets to chew on, so why not have some fun with it? Cut shapes into little ghosts or skulls for a Halloween theme.
Cozies
Many pets, such as Guinea pigs, love cozies, which are basically little pet tents or beds. You can buy or make some in autumn colors or patterns.
Seasonal Hides
Want to do something really cute? Buy or make your pet an autumn-themed hide. You can get your Guinea pig a bat-shaped house, or get your hamster a tiny haunted house.
Spooky Trees
Some woods are safe for pets to nibble on. Make a miniature haunted forest out of some cleaned, disinfected safe woods. Not sure what is safe and what isn’t? For the most part, things like fruit trees are safe. Hardwoods, such as pine and cedar, are a no. However, you’ll want to do some research.
Plain Wooden Shapes
If you go to any type of craft store at this time of year, you’ll likely find all sorts of plain wooden objects shaped like pumpkins, leaves, or other fall items. Just check the type of wood to make sure it’s okay.
Flameless Candles
You wouldn’t want to put flameless candles in your pet’s cage, or anywhere that is close enough for them to reach. However, you can definitely put some around it.
Tips
No matter what you end up doing, be sure to stick with safe objects. Don’t give your furry buddy anything with small parts, sharp edges, or dangling ropes or cords.
